A Wide Singing Sky

This series is a year-long journey through the land and seasons of the local landscape in 2024 – a journal of walks, weather, wildlife and history. From the deep frosted woods of January’s A Quiet Mulberry Dusk to the gathered midwinter hush of December’s A Still Silent Valley, each monthly entry traces the local landscape as it changes through a cycle of seasons. Most of the explorations recounted here unfold in the company of my ten-year-old son, whose questions, observations and way of being amongst nature shape what is noticed and what is remembered. Together, these pieces form a record of shared days under an open sky.
